Philanthropy

MindRiot’s two founders both perform a variety of philanthropic activities both inside and outside MindRiot.

As a licensed lawyer, Jonathan performs a variety of pro-bono work with exonerees and inmates. He is “Of Counsel” at the prestigious and national and international law firm of FMCO Law. In this capacity, he advises on entertainment matters and also on tort claims and civil action lawsuits. He does this alongside partners Kathleen ChavezElizabeth Chavez and Peter Currie and their team. He was awarded the “Voices of Justice” award from Nicky Ali Jackson, PhD at the The Lucas Oil Estate in Carmel, Indiana for the pro-bono work he does for JUDGES FOR JUSTICE. He also worked with Tom Skerrit on a Screenwriting Initiative for inmates.

Justin has made documentaries and written plays for various oppressed communities, human rights groups, and festivals in support of causes around the world. These include ones in support of the people of Zimbabwe at home and in exile, the LGBTQ+ community in Russia, the Ogoni people in Nigeria, the victims of Communism in Poland and Czechoslovakia, witnesses to the Holocaust, soldiers returning from war with PTSD, Irish soldiers punished for their involvement with the British Army during World War II, and others. This work has been supported by UNESCO, the Smashing Times & Front-Line Defenders Festival of Arts & Human Rights, the Mother Tongues Festival, the Waterford Diversity Festival, and numerous film festivals.
